Business Briefings: Pairing Theory with Business Application
Join the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), College of Business' Office of Professional & Executive Development (OPED) for our business education series, Business Briefings. Each session is co-facilitated by a university professor and a local business executive, merging both research-based business concepts with real-life experiences, creating an innovative learning environment. 

Speakers:
Dr. Karen Markel - Dean - UCCS College of Business

Karen Markel is dean of the College of Business at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and works with faculty, staff and the business community to build meaningful connections between the College and the business community. Before joining UCCS, she served as dean of the College of Business and Public Policy at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where she led all college academic programs and the Institute of Social and Economics Research. Markel has been widely published in leading management journals and has made significant contributions to human resource management and business practices. She is an accomplished educator, scholar, certified human resource professional, and leader in business.



Stanley Gbandawa - Senior Implementation Manager - T. Rowe Price

Stanley is a Senior Implementation Manager for T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services (RPS) in the Colorado Springs office. Stanley joined T. Rowe Price in November 2002 as an operations representative in the RPS Transactions Group. Prior to assuming his current role, he was a general consultant on the conversion team, a manager in RPS Client Administration, a supervisor in the Asset Transfer Group, and a retirement plan coordinator specialist. In October 2007, Stanley transitioned to Colorado Springs as a supervisor in our Retail Account Management department.  During his spare time Stanley spends time serving as Vice Chair on the Boards at the Pikes Peak Boys & Girls Club and East Lake High School, an alternative school with postsecondary options and mentoring youth as a ‘Big’ with Big Brother Big Sister. Stanley earned a B.S. in information systems from Morgan State University and an M.B.A. in management from Strayer University.
