Event Description:
It's Backcountry Day at Monarch Mountain! Join us and CO AVITalks as part of NSAA National Safety Month for backcountry education and activities. Attend a Know Before You Go, KBYG program, http://kbyg.org/, check out backcountry merchandise vendors, and take part in uphill/downhill activities. Backcountry equipment demos, avi dogs, and dawn patrol tour. Colorado Mtn College, Avalanche Science Program, http://coloradomtn.edu/programs/avalanche-science/, will conduct workshops on backcountry trip planning, avi beacon use, and digging snowpits as well as leading a short backcountry tour. The event is free of charge, but everyone must have a lift ticket or season pass to access the lifts. Participants taking part in uphill travel activities must sign an uphill waiver.
